    Welcome to the New Zealand Global Trigger Tool e-learning programme.

    The aim of this e-learning course is to provide a training resource for new and current users of the Global Trigger Tool methodology.

    The GTT was developed by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) to identify and quantify patient harm through systematic medical record review. The background and methodology is described in the IHI White Paper which provides the basis from which this e-learning course and the associated Implementation Guide have been developed:

    Learning Objectives

    By the end of this programme, reviewers will be able to:

    - Explain the purpose of the GTT and where it sits in the context of a patient safety framework

    - Carry out a medical record review using the standardised GTT Process

    - Accurately identify, classify and document patient harm

    - Analyse the data and present the findings

    - Work with relevant clinical groups to use the data to inform organisational improvement efforts

    The National Cervical Screening Programme has produced a new learning module aimed at smear takers, GPs, practice nurses and immunisation providers. The module will support your knowledge of the human papilloma virus (HPV) and the HPV vaccine. It will assist you with knowing when to order an HPV test as part of regular cervical screening, and discussing the results of those tests with women

    Improve Heart Health program

    Improve Heart Health is a course to support health professionals successfully design and deliver CV risk assessment and management services.

    Program Structure:

    You should complete each section as follows:

    1. Complete each eModule 
    2. Complete the Feedback Survey
    3. Print your certificate

    Once you have completed all the sections you will have completed the full Improve Heart Health Program.

    This course is an updated version of the the separate CVD courses. Your results from the separate CVD courses have been transferred into this course.
