The Introduction & Principles E-learning module introduces you to the course, its structure, the topics covered, and how you work through the course. We introduce the importance of breaking the Chain of Infection with Standard Precautions, and discuss the widespread problem of healthcare-associated infections (HCAIs).
The Hand Hygiene E-learning module recaps best practice for hand hygiene, revises the situations when you should clean your hands, and identifies the appropriate hand hygiene product that suits a given situation.
The PPE E-learning module looks at use of the four main PPE items, how to use them, remove them, and disposal. The module includes a risk assessment tool to help you decide what items of PPE are needed for a given situation.
The Environmental Management E-learning module covers the key concepts for minimising the risk of infection transmission in the patient’s/resident’s surroundings. It deals with everyday items like toys and linen, transmission-based isolation precautions, waste disposal, cleaning techniques, and dealing with sharps.
